Breeding Soundness Exams
Breeding soundness exams will check for signs of endocrine problems, establish if there are any congenital disorders that would make an animal unsuitable for potential breeding, as well as perform a reproductive exam.
Fresh Chilled Semen Shipments
If natural breeding is not the best option, our office is equipped with a frozen semen bank that is available for on site storage. Animal Care Clinics are fully equipped for your breeding needs. Dr. Harris’ special interest area is canine and feline reproductive and has experience with frozen and fresh chilled semen as well as surgical (and trans-cervical) artificial insemination.

Our office is equipped with a frozen semen bank and is available for on site storage. We also have staff with training and experience in frozen, fresh chilled and surgical artificial insemination.
Ovulation Timing
Our doctors are happy to assist you in your breeding needs with reproductive consults and ovulation timing. Dr. Harris is our reproductive specialist and is happy to share his knowledge.
Caesarian Timing
Most animals deliver their young without any complication. There are times when mothers require assistance and medical therapy is usually attempted to resolve the problem first. When medical therapy fails to assist the mother with delivery, a caesarian section is performed. During a caesarian section, the mother is given an anesthetic. An incision is made along her abdomen and through the uterus to retrieve unborn puppies or kittens. In some situations, it is recommended the mother be spayed at the same time as the c-section is performed. This is usually recommended to prevent future problems of this nature.
Whelping Assistance
Typical canine deliveries occur without problem, but if your pet is experiencing dystocia or needs extra assistance with delivery, our experience professionals can provide experienced whelping assistance. In the case of emergency or developing problems, having veterinarians on hand to provide immediate medical attention can be crucial to the process
Pregnancy Testing
To verify pregnancy, a blood test can be performed after 20 days, while at 28 days it will be evident whether or not your canine is pregnant by pulping the dog’s stomach. Ultrasound testing may also be used for pregnancy testing, and can be performed before 20 days. Ultrasounds can also be used to verify how many puppies are in the abdomen.
Trans-Cervical Insemination
Trans-cervical insemination avoids the risks of general anesthesia and surgery and therefore keeps your dog safer. Our offices are fully equipped for this service and our doctors have experience in the procedure.
